Pottery Laboratory
The Ceramics Laboratory at the Institute of Prosthodontics, Qasyoun Private University, provides a comprehensive training and practical environment for the institute's students. Here, technicians and students are prepared and qualified to learn and master the fabrication of fixed dental prostheses using the latest ceramic materials and techniques.
General Objectives of the Laboratory:
Practical Application of Theory: Enabling students to apply theoretical concepts related to the properties of ceramic materials and the mechanisms for working with them.
Mastery of Fixed Prosthodontics: Training students in the production of various types of ceramic crowns, sleeves, and bridges.
Integration of Traditional and Modern Techniques: Training students in traditional ceramic construction using a brush, in addition to the use of modern digital equipment in the field of prosthodontics.
Available Equipment and Technologies:
Porcelain Furnaces: Specialized kilns for performing firing and cooking processes with high thermal precision and control of thermal expansion coefficients.
Forming and Vacuum Forming Equipment: To minimize voids and preserve the mechanical and aesthetic properties of the ceramics. Equipped Workstations: These include specialized dental ceramic shaping, grinding, and polishing tools, as well as suction devices to ensure occupational safety.
Application and Shading Tools: Brush builders and shade guides that meet international standards for color and translucency control.
Student Training Modules in the Lab:
Handling Metal and Ceramic Substructures: Preparing and shaping the metal substructure or zirconia to receive the ceramic layers.
Ceramic Layering Technique:
Applying an opaque layer to conceal the metal color.
Building the dentin and enamel layers to achieve a natural tooth appearance.
Scraping and Smoothing: Shaping the morphological and surface features of the tooth before final baking.
Glazing and Staining: Performing the final baking and adding color effects to achieve a perfect match with adjacent teeth. Training and Safety Values
